The ECEC welcomed children back on Sept. 8, 2020. The ECEC team, headed by Early Childhood Education Director Shelly Sender, has established a strict protocol to keep the children and staff safe while ensuring a vibrant and caring environment.
The safety of our children, their families and the staff is paramount, of course. The ECEC safety protocols include:
- Class cohorts will lessen cross-contamination. Children will not intermingle with other cohorts. Atelier teachers will visit class rather than classes moving about within the school. Students will have lessons inside their designated classroom and outside.
- Classes will celebrate outdoor education and environmental-based learning throughout the year. Play and learning will be facilitated outdoors where and when possible. Meals and snacks will be eaten outside as much as possible. Children will be distanced from each other when eating.
- drop-offs and pick-ups via a carpool line will be implemented. One of your child’s teachers will take children out of the car, and teachers/staff will walk children to/from their classrooms. If you are dropping off siblings, we will accommodate you at the same time.
- Staff will always wear masks. Students in the 2s and up will come to school with masks and will have opportunities throughout the day to have mask breaks, such as when outside, eating or napping.
